After failing in the 112th session of the lame-duck Congress, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree reintroduced the “Local Farms, Food, and Jobs Act of 2013″ on April 9, 2013 for the 113th Congress. I am not sure why after 77 legislator co-sponsors to the original bill that it did not succeed in passing, but it is of utmost importance that the new bill, with 18 co-sponsors so far and similar legislation in the Senate thanks to Sherrod Brown of Ohio, passes through this time to help out those farmers who do not want anything to do with Monsanto‘s built-in GMO poison! We need to support local, organic farmers, because that is precisely what America wants!
Please take a look at the new bill here: http://pingree.house.gov/images/113th_Congress_LFFJA.pdf
The new and improved bill gives reforms to better support farmers, increase access to healthy foods for consumers, and provides firm funding to a program that supports local agriculture.
Please support this bill by distributing it for others to sign in support of it, and share it with others who back local, organic farming, and farming sustainability for the benefit of American consumers!
