What is crystalline silica?
Crystalline silica is a basic component of soil,
sand, granite, and many other minerals. Quartz
is the most common form of crystalline silica.
Cristobalite and tridymite are two other forms
of crystalline silica. All three forms may become
respirable size particles when workers chip, cut,
drill, or grind objects that contain crystalline silica.
What are the hazards
of crystalline silica?
Silica exposure remains a serious threat to
nearly 2 million U.S. workers, including more than
100,000 workers in high risk jobs such as abrasive
blasting, foundry work, stonecutting, rock drilling,
quarry work and tunneling. The seriousness of
the health hazards associated with silica exposure
is demonstrated by the fatalities and disabling
illnesses that continue to occur in sandblasters and
rockdrillers. Crystalline silica has been classifiedas a human lung carcinogen. Additionally, breathing
crystalline silica dust can cause silicosis, which
in severe cases can be disabling, or even fatal.
The respirable silica dust enters the lungs and
causes the formation of scar tissue, thus reducing
the lungs’ ability to take in oxygen. There is no
cure for silicosis. Since silicosis affects lung function,
it makes one more susceptible to lung infections
like tuberculosis. In addition, smoking causes
lung damage and adds to the damage caused by
breathing silica dust.

You will breathe crystalline silica particles in without
even knowing it until the damage is done, and it’s too late!
Look at Texas, home of the frackers and frauds! The elite
idiots who we let dictate what is going on in our country at
the expense of human and animal life, insects, OUR environment!
Do NOT be bought and sold for your desire for greed and/or power!
Do NOT let anyone convince you that any form of fracking is a good
idea! The “notion” of job creation is a myth at best. They say they
will hire 42 locals at the Glacier Sands LLC projected site directly
across the street from a school! For starters, those are non-permanent
jobs, AND you are not guaranteed a job because you are a “LOCAL!”
The trucking jobs will be hired out to 46 truckers or most likely
a trucking firm. Same problem, non-permanent jobs, unless you feel
like moving where there is new business every time they finish fracking
a site and destroying the human race in the meantime! I would not want
that on my next resume: Killed People While Sand or Hydraulic Fracking
or While Hauling the Remains of the Fracking Mess & Spreading Silica, A
Known Cancer-Causing Agent, Across A Vast Area!
That does not sound like sense, make sense, or invites the possibility of
making sense. We are talking about well-established businessmen in the
Fracking Industry who know how to manipulate the system by spreading things
out like getting a Sand Fracking Facility opened up in Buffalo County, WI
where nobody wants it except the few who have been brainwashed or paid off
by Glacier Sands to start working here! These businessmen come with attorneys!
For God’s sake, that should be a red warning flag right there!! Some, like
the two businessmen from Texas who started this whole Glacier Sands idea while
scheming others out through the practice of offering money, which the greedy willtake, (non-sustainable) jobs for the area, a clean environment when they are done, which is a flat-out lie! I have MORE THAN ENOUGH PROOF that this fracking businessis a big scam that our local, state and federal govts. are all ignorant about fora reason: Many of them have been paid off! Corruption is at an all-time high. Our Congress has a abysmal approval rating of 12%!! They are bought and paid for,as well as many doctors are for prescribing OR recommending certain medications likeCialis, Viagra, Lipitor, Ambien, Valium, and a whole host of other medicines to helpmake you feel better when it’s just masking the problem. Then, you end up taking moreand more medicine believing it will help you, when it’s actually killing you, but that’sanother whole concept!
I see and hear businessmen stampeding up here in Wisconsin andMinnesota for a reason: We are, or were, but a few untouched states that don’t know theDANGERS OF FRACKING and who these two Texas businessmen and a MN businessman are, AND theland grab allowed by seven farms who are either naive, overly greedy, don’t really careabout the environmental destruction that fracking really causes, and most likely weregiven a sugar-coated story about how the whole fracking process works. Let’s take a fewinteresting reads, shall we?
Frac Sand or Farmland: Wisconsin farmers face showdown — rescheduled for August 9
“Over the last several years, a sand rush has taken hold in western Wisconsin. Frac sand, a commodity used in hydraulic fracturing by the oil and gas industry, has attracted Wall Street investors eager to jump into a fast growing market. Glacier Sands, the mining company behind Seven Sands LLC, was formed in 2011 by Ike and Ryan Thomas, a father-son team from Granbury, Texas and Brian Iverson a developer from Wayzata, Minnesota.
Glacier Sands LLC has no proven track record in Wisconsin and little experience as a start-up company but submitted five applications
for conditional use permits in Buffalo County including one for a dry plant and rail facility within the last six months. The proposed facility would operate 24/7, handle over 12,000 tons of sand hauled by 500 trucks per day, and would be built in a wetland area next to the Mississippi River, directly across from the Cochrane-Fountain City K-12 school.”
“Brian Iverson has been accused of securities fraud and self-dealing by a group of investors associated with two other mining start-ups in Montana. [See text of Montana complaint in Appendix D
.] Less than two years ago, Iverson filed for bankruptcy to relieve more than $21 million in debt stemming from past business ventures and personal guaranties he gave as security for business loans.”
“Nettie Rosenow and other concerned citizens of Buffalo County, have grown increasingly frustrated with what she and others see as the zoning board of adjustment’s (BOA) indifference to issues related to the health, safety and welfare of the community. At public hearings, when questions are raised about the impact of mining on air, groundwater, and traffic, Rosenow observes that the board of adjustment doesn’t seem to listen or care, rubber-stamping applications without following proper procedures or assessing what she believes are the full implications of mining.
“The original board of adjustment was very unprepared and totally influenced by the zoning administrator. [Former zoning administrator Paul Van Eijl] basically told them they had to approve the mines,” Rosenow claims.”

The Truth About Fracking
“The photographs below depict the typical gas well drilling operations found in Texas. Starting with a sand mining operation, then a well pad site that is being drilled and finally the ravages of natural gas production.”

What does Sand Fracking do to the land?
“Make sure you watch the photo clips towards the bottom!”
Don’t let Del Twidt, Buffalo County, WI Board Supervisor, get away with letting these companies slip into our area via any conditional permit of any kind, because once they are in, they will not leave until they have stripped us bare and caused a massive toxic environmental catastrophe for us to clean up! Let him know what you think about fracking anywhere in Buffalo County, that he needs to permanently ban fracking in Buffalo County, otherwise his job is on the line for neglecting
to protect the citizens! Feel free to pass along the entire email with all articles and links to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, regular email, etc. etc.! The more people know, the more
likely they are to take action to protect our precious land and water in the Coulee Region and beyond: http://www.buffalocounty.com/Buffalo%20County%20Administrator.htm
